bikini debate: survey says women over 39 should not rock a bikini
How old is too old when it comes to rocking the two-piece at the beach? It seems, to many, the answer is 40. A recent survey conducted by Isme.com reveals that seven out of 10 women believe women over 39 need to invest in a one-piece swimsuit, and never wear a bikini again.
There are plenty of women who take excellent care of their bodies, evident by their strong, fit physique; do you agree there should be a bikini cutoff age? We asked our friends over on The Ricki Lake Show Facebook page and received hundred of passionate responses. And unlike anything we've ever seen before, every single one of them agreed that age should have nothing to do with it. Here are a few responses...
Heather 70% think that? that's because women are valued only for their outward sexual appeal and once that's "gone", women are of no use and no one should have to be subjected to a visually unappealing woman (eye roll)
Graham Can we make the cutoff something you can control, like body fat percentage, instead of age?
Erica I think 70% (or more!) of women in general should not wear a bikini, but I don't think age is a determining factor. No offense, ladies, and I'm including myself as part of the 70+ percent, Lord knows I like my junk food!
Monica What?? If you work out and are proud of your body than show it off. Putting numbers ON women BY women is just wrong ;-( Be the Goddess of your own body temple and embrace your ageless spirit
Sarah I think it should be a personal choice. And maybe we as women should stop judging one another by what we wear. If you are confident at 55 or 65 and are comfortable with wearing one, who am I to say no?
Tony Says who? There are NOOO rules today and its been that way for years. Why can't over weight woman wear a two piece? Because society says 'be a size 4 or less' or you're not a real sexy woman. I grew up in a household of three large and in charge older sisters and a mom who was the same. There was never a lack of male interest in them then or now. Its not 'do u have the bod for it?' it should be 'suck it, its my life dude' and then go enjoy the beach. Women should really STOP being each other's worst critics and enemies when it comes to your bodies, it's so bizarre to me when I read stuff like this. It's like what planet are these surveys done on??
Let's talk: Tell us a body part you've grown to love more as you get older!
