5 beach time tips to feel more beautiful, at any size
One of the reasons Ricki is relatable to so many women is her ability to share her struggles with body image. How many of us let the number on the scale dictate how we feel about ourselves and our lives? Allana Pratt says it's possible to feel beautiful at any size, and shares her tips for overcoming negative thoughts and learning to love the skin we're in.
Allana's 5 Beach Time (and Any Time) Tips to Feel More Beautiful
Stop Comparing Yourself to Others Given there will always be someone thinner, younger, tanner, etc., why on earth would you choose to set yourself up to suffer when you have a choice on where to put your attention? Choose to focus on the breeze kissing your cheeks, the smells of the surf, and feel the amazing sun warming your skin. We call this being present—not spinning in your head with self abuse. Be awake to the yummy environment and let it permeate your very body. Feel yummy. I swear it works!
Be Grateful that You’re at the Beach (or a lake, pool etc.) You could be stuck in an office, or in the snow. Hello! Let’s get intensely grateful here! Also, can you be grateful that you are free to travel and walk across the the beach? How many people have circumstances in their lives that prevent them from simple things like walking through the sand or splashing in the water? How about the lunch or snacks you bring along? Be grateful you have nourishment while some struggle to find food every day. Savor fully how friggin’ awesome your life is to be relaxing right now! How does it get even better?
Stop Trying to be Beautiful What? Feel beautiful by stopping to try to feel beautiful? What? Denial? No, that’s not what I mean. I want you to consider that, when you try to be beautiful, someone else will always be more beautiful. However if you focus on being "beauty, itself" in your own way... you can celebrate your uniqueness, your amazing hair, your rockin’ suit, your amazing pedicure, your glorious bosom, your hot sunglasses, your elegant hands. You ARE beauty, itself. How would beauty walk? Talk? Own it.
Find Your Signature Style Item When I taught Pilates and came back six weeks after my son was born, with 60 pounds to lose and dripping breasts, the beach seemed daunting, until I found this killer sexy cowboy hat, shades and cover up. I wore a one piece, not bikini, yet I felt WAY more stylish and hot than I did when I was thinner. Work it girl. It’s all in the attitude of loving what is.
Flaunt Your Best Remember they said Marilyn Monroe was a 12, right? Curves are gorgeous and I find lingerie shops have fabulous bathing suits for curvy women that will make you feel as gorgeous as a pin up girl. Be willing to do a little research to find a suit that you adore, then flaunt your curves and enjoy the beach, being exactly who you are. Nothing in this life needs to stop you from living fully, unless you let it. Some of the men I coach think the sexiest women are the women who are at peace in their skin. Confidence is sexy, so embrace the uniquely fabulous YOU and take a vacation from self abusive judgment—forever.
