monday: when i look in the mirror (episode breakdown)

Welcome to the premiere of The Ricki Lake Show! Today's topic is one that millions of women can relate to — body image. Ricki meets women who feel trapped in their thin bodies. They've lost weight and gained a new lifestyle. But what happens when your mind just can't seem to catch up with your body? Click here to find out where to watch The Ricki Lake Show in your hometown!

Have you criticized your body today? If you answered "yes," you're not alone. A recent poll by Glamour Magazine has found that 97 percent of women experience "I hate my body" thoughts daily. Today's guests are no stranger to those feelings, even after losing weight and reclaiming their bodies.

Marianne has lost 110 pounds and still wears clothes that are three sizes too big. Her husband, Scott, has tried to convince her to return them and dress for her actual size—but she doesn't know how.

Enter: Emme, the world's first plus-size supermodel and founder of EmmeNation.com. She's taking Marianne backstage to makeover her looks, and her mind. No one is more surprised by her transformation than Marianne, herself—WOW.

Michelle, a size 4, has lost 158 pounds but still feels like her former size 28. What Michelle is experiencing is a common issue, says psychotherapist Stacy Kaiser, but there are ways to help your mind catch up with your body.

According to a recent study conducted by "The Dove Campaign for Real Beauty," 75 percent of teenage girls felt "depressed, guilty and shameful" after spending just three minutes flipping through a fashion magazine. Carina and Emma are two teens who say "enough is enough," and are on a mission to stop magazines from Photoshopping young models. Their work with Spark, a movement that empowers young girls to make a difference, has turned the crusaders into heroes among their peers, but they've got a lot of work ahead of them.
