The Challenge: No Soda
Find beverage alternatives. This is one of the biggest goal busters. Some have as many calories as a candy bar. An average soda (non diet) had about 150 calories. Drink just three a day and that’s 450 calories. Multiply that by 7 days in a week and you’ve gained a pound, in soda alone. The good news is if you eliminate that, you’ll lose a pound. Lose weight by doing nothing but taking out this one food.
Tips and Tricks: Water is your #1 best choice for hydration without question. But if you crave flavor, try adding slices of real lemons, limes, oranges or strawberries. You can also try green tea which can be consumed hot or cold and flavored with a bit of honey. Diet soda is ok as an interim drink while you wean yourself off the real stuff, but this too should be left behind for your healthy new life.
The Challenge: No fast food or take out
No picking up or driving through for fast food. This challenge is tied with soda as one of the biggest goal-busters. There isn’t anything good for you about fast food other than their convenience. But in the time it takes you to go through the drive through or order and pick up take out, you could have grilled some chicken or made a beautiful egg white omelet.
Tips and Tricks: Simply take the option out of your head like it doesn’t exist. Come up with new, fast go-to foods you can prepare quickly at home. But if you are out and hungry, stop at a grocery store instead. You can pick up some fruit and nuts, yogurt, a prepared salad, or some turkey or chicken breast, to name just a few suggestions.
