tuesday: hormones 101 (episode guide)

Headaches, bloating, insomnia, and mood swings—sounds like the side effects of a bad hangover—but, nope. Ricki's actually talking about hormones. On Tuesday's episode of The Ricki Lake Show, we’re breaking down the good, the bad, and the ugly of this eight letter word.

What are hormones and how do they work? Dr. Suzanne Gilberg-Lenz joins Ricki to help us navigate it all. [Click here for a little hormone cheat sheet.]

Plus, we all know Suzanne Somers as an '80s TV icon. But, over the last decade she’s been pursuing her life’s passion and has made her mark in the world of bio-identicals. But her journey has also had its share of controversy.

And, our experts take on the Human Growth Hormone debate. Is it safe for weight loss? Dr. Suzanne Gilberg-Lenz says it's important to be educated before trying. "HGH is approved for growth disorders in young children." And while it's not uncommon for doctors to often use meds for other reasons than the ones the FDA approved, if it seems too good to be true, it probably is. "People turn to anti-aging medicine to feel better and look younger. But you can't have it all without a cost. The most important thing is to be under the care of a licensed doctor."
