There's no one better than Ricki to host a complete episode that's not only all about the enormous and life-altering power of social media—but used that power of social media during the actual taping of the show.

The numbers are staggering. 955 million people are on Facebook, YouTube videos get more than four billion views a day, and Twitter sees 400 million tweets every 24 hours. From celebrities and mommy bloggers, to people connecting with family and friends, social media is changing our lives. In this groundbreaking episode of The Ricki Lake Show, we’ve assembled an all-star team of social media heavyweights including innovators, personalities, and influential bloggers—all live-tweeting, blogging and sharing on Facebook throughout every moment of today’s show!

Social media is powerful and interactive. In fact, our Friends of Ricki community made a suggestion on how we can continue our 360 degree conversation—and we listened. Starting September 10th, the same day as the premiere, we also launched "After Ricki," a live and interactive behind-the-scenes show, hosted by Ricki's best friend & producer, Josh Sabarra. But back to the social media show... Ricki couldn't do the show without a little help from her friends. We get the celebrity side of social media with Sean Combs (AKA Diddy), who talks about how he's harnessed the power of social media, Skype with Bravo's Andy Cohen and Ricki chats with gossip king, Perez Hilton

Plus, meet a couple who used Facebook to become parents via adoption, a formerly homeless man who uses Twitter and YouTube to fight homelessness and high school sweethearts who found their way back to each other through the  “people you may know” box on Facebook.

Her videos have been seen nearly 400 million times, Ricki welcomes YouTube star iJustine.

And, it wouldn't be social media without the co-founder of Blogher, Elisa Camahort Page and the head of social innovation at Twitter and author of “Twitter for Good,” Claire Ortiz

If you love Words with Friends the way Team Ricki does, Linda Kim from Zynga will make you giddy as she tops off the show with a big announcement, introducing the brand new "Words with Friends of Ricki."

Check out our Friends of Ricki gallery and what some said about the social media experience...

Ricki Lake, being very involved in social media personally, decided it would be a great opportunity to allow bloggers to tweet, Facebook and photograph her show. The excitement was evident as we all sat waiting to head into the studio, many of us using the charging stations that were provided by the show to charge up our electronic devices.

And as fun as the “outside” was, the “inside” was even better. -- Carolyn West, (@TemysMom) founder of The Talk Ain't Cheap and SoCal Lady Bloggers.

So-called "old media" formats are re-inventing themselves around social media too. Take the new Ricki Lake Show for instance. For its 3rd episode, which airs today (September 12), the smart folks at Ricki invited a social media savvy audience (including mom.me!) to the studio to become 'Friends of Ricki'. -- mom.me
