5 tips to keep your kids safe

 

Polly Klaas was just 12 years old when she was abducted at knife point from her mother's house, and murdered. Since her disappearance, Polly's father, Mark Klaas, has become a child advocate and established the KlaasKids Foundation. Mark shared his tips for parents in how to keep kids safe today.

Inform Be clear that children should not go anywhere without letting parents know where they will be

Buddy System Always, always, always go with another person (to the bus stop... walking home... etc)

Trust Your Gut Tell kids to trust that feeling they get in their tummy, it's there to help us

Turn for Help If your child feels like he or she is in danger, teach them they can go up to strangers for help, whether it's an employee where they are, a mom with her children.. when feeling threatened, get help.

Call for Help Mark believes that every child should have their own cell phone to use in case of emergencies
