Ricki Lake's passion project AllStride promotes healthy diets to help kids, teens, and families lose weight. She brought experts from her web-based program during THE RICKI LAKE SHOW'S "Epidemic of Childhood Obesity" episode to help viewers seek the resources provided by this program.
Ricki Lake's guests Childhood Obesity Expert John Monaco, MD, Nutritionist Robert Ferguson, and Fitness Expert and Coach Isaiah Truyman of the AllStride Program stress the community aspect of the program. Families are encouraged to make changes to their eating habits. AllStride gives families and kids knowledge and tools to track progress, take control, and build confidence.
AllStride also provides an online community for kids to find others in a similar situation for support. For more information on the program, visit the AllStride site.
John Monaco recommends five things every parent can do if their child is overweight.
1. More than you’re doing now, try to eat dinner as a family
2. Go out once a day up to an hour and just play outside as a family
3. Embrace fruits and vegetables each day
4. Avoid sugar
5. Know what you’re eating, read nutrition labels. Be a mindful eater
